Bride of Christ

Yes Sir!!

Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.   2Tim. 2:3-4 NASB

"Whats with the sword”?  It’s a question I get asked once in a while regarding the sword fastened to the front of my pulpit.   I have a few quick answers for them.

It reminds me that the Word of God is the Sword of the Spirit!
It reminds me that out of “His mouth come a sword” that one day consume every enemy!
It reminds me that the Word of God is, “sharper than a two edged sword”!

Makes me sound spiritual doesn’t it?    But the sword also has another meaning that is more about us than Him.  It reminds me that I am a soldier and I am in a war.  I am not on furlough, or retired, or even doing a short term tour of duty.    I am called to a permanent front line engagement with a real and present danger…. a battle for the souls of men!

When I feel like quitting… The sword reminds me that there is no turning back!   No sir!    I am forever deployed!   And all I can say to the One who enlisted me… the Captain of the Lord's Army is… "Yes Sir”!
