“Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper.”    Proverbs 13:4 NLT

I love the story about a young man who ran into the convenience store and asked the manager if he could use his pay phone.   The manager nodded and said, “Sure, it’s over there”!  The boy pushed in a few coins, dialed, and waited for an answer.

Finally, someone picked up on the other end.   “UH Sir”, the boy said in a deep voice, “Could you use a young, honest hardworking man to work for you?”
After a moment or two the boy said, “Oh, you already have an honest, hardworking young man?  Well, OK.  Thanks just the same.”

With a broad smile stretched across his face, he hung up the phone and started back to his car.. humming... and, obviously elated.    “Hey, just a minute”, the store manager said, “I couldn’t help overhearing your conversation.  Why are you so happy?  I thought the guy you were talking to said he already had somebody and didn’t need you?”

The young man smiled.  “Well, you see, I am the honest, hardworking young man.  I was just checking up on my job”!

Well... that was one way of finding out if your employer thinks your lazy.   Of course in our “politically correct” society you probably can’t use the word “LAZY” anymore.   You might have to use the terms, “Work-shy”, “inactive”, “lethargic”, or.. heres one... “Lackadaisical”!

So, if you see “lackadaisical” on your evaluation sheet, you don’t have to wonder what it means!   That’s just a nice way of saying, your lazy!

As the proverb says... A lazy... O, I mean, a “Work-shy” person wants a lot, but doesn’t want to exert any energy to get it.  He wants much... but gets little... simply because he refuses to give much.
