Before you Gentiles knew God, you were slaves to so- called gods that do not even exist. Gal. 4:8 NLT
Now, that sounds really weird to me. “Slaves to gods that weren’t really gods at all”??? How can that be?
However, when we take into account that what ever a man loves most is his god, it becomes easy to understand. Man is always looking for something to worship, and.. there is no end to the gods we set up until we discover the Real One!
It seems when God made us, He put a place… a hole… in our soul that only He could fit into. Before I knew God, I put things in there that I thought would fill the gap. They didn’t! Nothing fit! Nothing was big enough… trustworthy enough.. kind enough… merciful enough… loving enough… to give me the peace and joy I needed.
The gods who were no gods enslaved me by offering me nothing but slavery. Now, that is just nuts, don’t you think! How did I fall for that trick?
But no more beloved… as it is written, “...now that you know God (or should I say, now that God knows you), why do you want to go back again and become slaves once more to the weak and useless spiritual principles of this world?”
Dear one… put God in the right spot… and, "SLAVE"?... no more!
