Looking at him, Jesus felt a love for him and said to him, “One thing you lack:go and sell all you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me” Mark 10:21NASB
There is something in us that blinds us of our purpose for being. What is it?? The need to feel important! The need for things... and MORE things! The man in this story had both wealth and fame... yet there was something he was lacking…. something more important than himself… something more important than his possessions. And, Jesus loved him enough to let him know what it was.
We are servants, beloved… either to self or God. But, we can’t serve both! The part of me that I invest in here… will one day end here! Only what I invest in other people can I expect to take to heaven with me.
The Master was offering this man a better investment plan than the one he was currently using. Would he make the best investment? Will I?
