...the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ servant, saying, “Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise, cross this Jordan... Joshua 1:1-2
Coming out of Egypt, Israel failed to cross the Jordan and take what God had promised them. That failure kept them in the desert for 40 years. Now, here they were at the bank of the Jordan again... this time... it would be Joshua leading them. Joshua had to wonder... what if I fail to lead them... what if they are afraid to cross the Jordan again??
Fear of failure can keep us from moving on and taking hold of God's promises. Overcoming this fear, is what separates the average from the achiever. Everyone fails! But it is what you do with it that counts... learn or lock up??
God is encouraging Joshua and us by reminding him [and us] of a few things:
1. What people did yesterday doesn't have to affect you today... unless you let it.
2. It's time to move from following to taking the lead and the responsibility for your life. Don't spend anymore time reminiscing the good old days... they are dead and gone!
3. God's promise to you hasn't changed... it is still the same as it was... Don't be afraid... God is with you... so...go ahead...
Cross this Jordan!!!
